The case for composite
- It won't rot. The capped shell keeps moisture out, so there's nothing for fungus to feed on.
- It stays safer underfoot. No green algae build-up like old timber, and a textured surface for grip.
- No staining or oiling. Just a wash down when it needs it.
- No splinters. Comfortable for bare feet, children and dogs.
- Consistent looks. Even colour and straight, true boards from one end to the other.
Fitted to last
Good composite deserves a good frame. We space joists closer than for timber, fit the manufacturer's hidden clips, leave expansion gaps at ends and edges, and keep the frame ventilated. Edges are finished with a mitred picture-frame border and fascia, so you never see raw board ends.
Colours for Darlington homes
Warm browns and teak tones suit the red brick and render of the west end; greys and charcoals work with newer homes in West Park and Middleton St George. We'll show you samples against your own walls.
Common questions
How long does composite decking last?
Quality capped composite is made to last many years with very little upkeep. The frame matters just as much, which is why we build it properly.
Can it be laid over my old patio?
Sometimes, on a suitable low-profile frame, if the patio is sound and drains well. We'll check heights against the door and damp-proof course first.
